"When confronted with being falsely accused of fathering a child 18 years prior and owing back child support I had no idea what to do or where to turn. Many hours were spent trying to work through the massive bureaucracy known as Los Angles County, all to no avail. It was then after talking to a friend I was referred to Rebecca Lizarraga. My friend previously had come up against Rebecca Lizarraga in a court proceeding and was so impressed he always remembered her. After contacting Lizarraga Law, I was impressed with the way I was treated and immediately felt relieved once I explained my situation to her. It was all a blur over the next week as she and her office got things moving fast, their task made even more daunting as I lived out of state.
It was obvious these people not only knew what they were doing but also knew who to contact. I cannot say enough about or even begin to express my gratitude to Rebecca and her very competent staff. "My son was a victim of Mistaken Identity through a County Agency for Child Support. The agency garnished his wages and intercepted his Federal tax return. He found the family of the children and they were very helpful in getting him the information he needed to clear this up. He did all the foot work, got the wage garnishment lifted and was told his tax return would not be intercepted, this should have been a very simple, clear cut, process, however after several visits to the agency to clear up this matter the girl in the office became verbally abusive to my son stating he is one of the lucky ones, some people lose their homes and even serve time in jail. She told him he was at the bottom of the list and to stop calling and stop coming to the office, she would get to him when she got to him. He became very angry and frustrated.
He has full custody of his 5 yr old daughter, he had to move out of his apartment and back in with me and his bills became delinquent. He had just returned home from the United States Air Force after having served 9 years, serving in Iraq and Kuwait for his country, only to be abused by the Child Support system. This system leaves a lot to be desired and the office workers have no compassion for people in this situation. They should think how they would feel if someone treated their family members this way. After months of no one caring or even trying to get this matter cleared up, we spoke with Attorney Rebecca Lizarraga. She was wonderful, very understanding and compassionate to the predicament my son encountered. She assured us she would clear the matter up in a few weeks and she held true to her word. She called me yesterday and was elated she had the refund checks for my son and would mail them to him immediately. She also stated the head of the department called her personally to apologize for his staff’s behavior in handling this matter.
