Gay & Lesbian Family Law
On June 26, 2013, the United States Supreme Court ruled the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional and DOMA violated the rights of gays and lesbians. The court also found Proposition 8 unconstitutional which resulted in the swift restoration of the freedom to marry in California, making California the thirteenth state where same-sex couples can marry.
